Meet The Blogger: Meet Krystal Of Queen Of Nails 83

I'm back! I took a mini blogging break & now I'm ready to junk right back in!

For today's Meet The Blogger it's Krystal of Queen Of Nails 83. She a new blogger that I've gotten to know over the last couple of months, seriously her swatches are amazing!

I am so sorry that I didn't get this back to you sooner. I don't know what happened...I totally spaced out!

What make you start a blog? My husband got tired of hearing my talk his ear off about polish and I had other swatchers/bloggers and family members telling me I should start one.

How long have you been blogging? Almost 5 months

What would you say makes your blog unique? I try give more than just swatches and a review. I try to make everyone feel welcomed from the newbie just starting in the indie world to the veteran who has been around since the first indie brand.

What's your favorite part of having a blog? I get to express myself, totally and freely. I blog as if I were talking to friends. Meeting new people and being able to develop relationships with other nail addicts...lol

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time? Yes, Vapid! The Digit Dust is amazing.

What would you say is the downside of blogging? The time it takes to write photos and the review.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written? Not as of yet.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect. I write sporadically. As soon as I get my swatch packet I start taking notes on my phone and then I blog all at once. Once I am ready to pust all my notes together, I always have a hot cup of tea ☕️.

Do you think your blog has changed of the years? Still too new to have many changes but I have added nail art and different finishes to my swatches to show customers options

Are you married? Yes, happily for almost 3 years.

Do you have any kids and/or pets? 3 kids, Xavier 13, Xylana 9 and Xadrian 5. We also just added Dallas our beagle, hound mix

Any advice for new bloggers? Be your authentic self. Do not change or compromise for anyone! Don't compare yourself to others, be the best you! Lastly, be honest in your review.

Thanks so much for being a part of Meet The Blogger Krystal! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Nimi of Hair Care Square

Happy Tuesday! For today's Meet The Blogger its Nimi of Hair Care Square
Hair Care Square just celebrated a milestone, it's 1 year Anniversary!

What make you start a blog?
I used to write blog posts for my colleague and that used to rank well in Google. Then he and I started new blog in partnership and One thing lead to another now I have this hair care niche blog.

How long have you been blogging?
I am blogger from past 6+years but started my niche blog exactly one year before.

What would you say makes your blog unique?
I write about hair care on my blog and come up with the most unique diys for hair care. Plus I negotiate with brands and come up with some of the best deals on best products around the world exclusively for my readers.

What's your favorite part of having a blog?
Meeting new people. I love when my readers mail me their hair and skin care problems. I just love it when my readers send me handmade cards. Just the best feeling in the world.. Makes me feel like I have achieved my blogging goals.

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?
Yes. I have come across some absolutely amazing products but my favorites are Argan dew's argan oil & hair mask and Neesh's pocket perfume.I just cant resist buying them again and again.

What would you say is the downside of blogging?
Too much of work. Honestly it gets really overwhelming at times. The blog posts, social media, monetization. There is just so much work. Sometimes I just spend my whole day making changes to my blog and at the end of the day its like I wasted my whole day doing useless stuff for my blog.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?
Yes, I did a post on how to curl your hair without heat using your old t-shirt and for some reason, I just hate that post.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect
My cellphone, cup of tea and my perfume. I just can't do it without my perfume. I just apply it and feel really happy and positive while writing.

Do you think your blog has changed of the years?
It gave me my identity, financial independence, lots of friends and tons of free beauty products ;-)

What was it like finding out you were getting press samples for the first time?
I received hair extensions from a brand that too while I just had about 7 blog posts on my blog. IT was a huge achievement for me. I danced for a week and used to wear those extensions all the time. ;-)

Are you married?
I am about to get married this year to a very special and most romantic guy in the world. I just couldn't be happier.

Do you have any kids and/or pets?
I have a baby girl dog and she is just the best thing that happened to me. Whenever I feel sad, she just has some power to sense it and she would start pampering me so much. I feel everything is write with the world again.

Any advice for new bloggers?
I am actually starting a new series on my blog called "Beauty Blogging" where I share my blogging secrets. But until then my advice would be to
1. just take out 20 minutes each day for your blog's design and don't invest more time on that.
2. Focus on your content and social media especially Instagram. I got lot of sponsored posts for my blog via Instagram. Its just the most amazing social media platform out there.
3. Keep a media kit ready even if you are a new blog. This makes you stand out from the crowd and helps in making a really good impression. When I first sent mine, I was only blogging for a month or two and it helped me land a sponsored post.
4. Also invest at least 1 hour each day, to make new blogging friends. And I don't mean participating in blogger threads for 'Like4Like' but actual real connection. Help a friend, share their posts, include their posts in your blog. Trust me this investment is going to take you a really long way.

Thanks so much for being apart of Meet The Blogger Nimi! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Alice of Makeup, Fashion, Music &; Life = Me

Happy Tuesday! For today's Meet The Blogger its Alice of Makeup, Fashion, Music & Life = Me Aka Photo Escape06. She just wrote an amazing post about why she's single, seriously go check it out!

What make you start a blog?

I actually started my blog in 2005 from MySpace then jumped from platform to platform. I've tried live journal, multiply, even friendster blog! And I just really liked writing in general so that is what made me start one.

How long have you been blogging

I have been blogging for about 11 years.

What would you say makes your blog unique?

I think what makes my blog unique is how authentic I am in my reviews. Even if its a sponsored review I still say the side effects or down sides of the product.

What's your favorite part of having a blog?

My favorite part in having a blog is to be able to share awesome things  to my readers and meeting like minded people.

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

Yes! A lot actually.

What would you say is the downside of blogging?

The downside of blogging is when people put you in a certain stereotype. Like with my niche for example, I mostly blog about beauty products so people assume that I wear make up almost everyday or I always get the products I review for free but in reality I don't really wear make up often and also I buy those products if I can so I can review them.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?

There was one product that I didn't really like because i had a terrible breakout moment right at the time of the year where I hosted a lot of parties so the struggle was definitely real then haha!

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect

I need to have music playing in the background at all times. And coffee of course.

Do you think your blog has changed of the years?

It has definitely changed. I am more conscious regarding what time to post or how to share my posts and also go with the trends.

This question is optional

What was it like finding out you were getting press samples for the first time?

It was a mind blowing experience. I never thought it was a thing especially here in the Philippines. But I still keep it real with purchasing some of the items sometimes.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?

Definitely single at the moment. I do have 13 cats and 2 adorable dogs that accompany me at the moment

Any advice for new bloggers?

Blog about what you love. There are people out there who will appreciate your work so keep on writing!

Thanks for being a part of Meet The Blogger Alice! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Nina Of Model City Polish

I'm Happy Tuesday everyone! I'm excited about today's Meet The Blogger because it's Nina of Model City Polish!!!!!'
Nina was the very first indie brand that I ever tried & I don't think too many people realize that she's a blogger too.

What make you start a blog?

I had always been a lover of nail polish and with my every growing collection I decided to start sharing my obsession with others.

How long have you been blogging

4 years

What would you say makes your blog unique?

I wouldn’t say my blog is super unique but that is okay with me.  I guess one thing that is slightly different than a majority is my nail shape.  I have always rocked rounded finished, it’s just a classic look. ❤

What's your favorite part of having a blog?

Uh, the polish! Duh!  Painting my nails is relaxing and I enjoy sharing off my work. ❤

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

Oh certainly!  SuperChic Lacquer Liquid Macro Top Coat is my number one top coat for sure.  LondonTown Cuticle Cream is the best thing ever and I use it weekly for my deep down treatment.

What would you say is the downside of blogging?

I can’t think of a whole lot negatives.  Maybe not enough days in the week to show of pretty lacquers?

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?

Nope.  Even the old stuff, while the photos are not that great, it shows the growth and I feel is a great motivator to keep growing.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect

Generally Netflix or Sling TV is playing non stop.  If I am writing, not painting, then I will most likely have a cat in my lap.

Do you think your blog has changed of the years?

I have certainly started adding more things I love in the recent months and am hoping to share more of my personal loves, like music, with my readers and followers.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?

I am married with three fur babies.  I am married to my high school boyfriend and we celebrated being together for 19 years, married for 14, last month. ❤

Any advice for new bloggers?

Just do it!  When I started blogging I really didn’t think I had anything to offer that so many others

were not already doing.  I blog for myself and if anyone else checks it out then fantastic!  Avoid the

drama and just try to have fun with it. ❤
Thanks so much for being a part of Meet The Blogger Nina! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Marina of Broken Down Beauty

Welcome to today's edition of Meet The Blogger! Today's Blogger is Marina of

I'm so jealous of her Instagram! Her pics are sooooooo amazing!

What made you start a blog?

I come from a family of non-makeup-wearing women, and, yet, I'd always been fascinated by cosmetics. While I was working part-time at Sephora, my family would always ask me what I was using on my face or what that certain makeup term meant. They suggested I start writing a blog, since I had too much to say! I began writing a few articles, and then the coworkers at Sephora caught on to it. They loved it! I didn't think that I would have anything to say that a makeup artist or avid lover of beauty wouldn't already know, but my extensive knowledge in science allowed me to provide a unique point of view.

How long have you been blogging?

2.5 years

What would you say makes your blog unique?

First, it's my addition of scientific and business principles that really break down the concepts, products, techniques, and brands within the beauty industry. Cosmetic companies do a great job at confusing consumers and making them think they need to purchase 80 million different products. Wrong! Beauty has such a slew of offerings to suit everyone's specific need, price point, and preference. Just because a product exists doesn't mean you need it!

What's your favorite part of having a blog?

I love interacting with my readers in the comments section on my blog and Instagram. I love having people to geek out with!

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

I recently discovered Sun Bum and their amazing collection of sunscreens. I religiously wear sunscreen every day, and I now make sure to wear their High Performance Sunscreen in SPF 50. It blends so well, provides great protection, and doesn't affect my makeup application!

What would you say is the downside of blogging?

Keeping up with it! Some weeks I just don't feel inspired by anything, and it's tough to constantly keep churning out content.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?

I think my early posts were WAY too long. I was trying to cram every fact and opinion I had about beauty into each post. I should have written it all out and then divided it into separate, smaller posts. Who can read all that at once?!

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflix, drinking tea etc.

Peace and quiet! It's hard to write if someone is trying to talk to you or the TV is blaring. I just need time to get my thoughts out.

Do you think your blog has changed over the years?

I think I've developed a stronger, more clear voice as time has progressed.

What was it like when you found out you were getting your first press samples?

Pretty exciting. You feel like you're doing something right, and I always love trying new products!

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?
PASS

Any advice for new bloggers?

Take time to think about your point of difference and voice. What's the overall goal of your blog? How does each piece contribute to that goal?
Thanks for being a part of Meet The Blogger Marina! You can mind her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Kirsty of FairytaleNails

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Today on Meet The Blogger it's Kirsty of
I discover Kirsty on Facebook, and I have to say I'm highly jealous of the subscription boxes that she gets!

What make you start a blog?
I have 2 chronic illnesses which stop me from doing alot of things, so I stopped biting my nails and started painting them. This then lead to me taking up stamping and my addiction just grew from there. I wanted to be able to share my thoughts and feelings with other addicts so I started writing my blog after receiving lots of encouragement from my good friend Becca.

How long have you been blogging?
9 months so far and loving every minute of it.

What would you say makes your blog unique?
I'm not really sure if my blog is unique haha I do feature alot of UK Indies as I love supporting those close to home.

What's your favorite part of having a blog?
Having somewhere to write about nails and meet others that are just as mad about nails as I am.

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?
My very first post was about the nailtiques formula 2 and it is my go to base coat. My nails have grown long and strong thanks to that beautiful bottle of magic.

What would you say is the downside of blogging?
It would have to be scheduling and finding the time. I normally do all of my 'blogging duties' when my little girl is in bed.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?
It would probably be most of the posts I did at the begining, my nails look awful and i definitely needed to work on my clean up LOL

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect
A cup of tea and Netflix

Do you think your blog has changed of the years?
I hope it has improved, I was lucky to have other bloggers that would give me tips and tricks along the way. My picture quality is definitely better since getting a good camera and the right lighting.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?
Im not married have one beautiful daughter and a michevious Jack Russel.

What was it like when you found out you were getting your first press samples?
I felt so honered when i was asked to review products and still do. I rang my mum and boyfriend at work to tell them.

Any advice for new bloggers?
Have fun, enjoy it and above all love what you do.
Thanks so much for being part of Meet The Blogger Kirsty! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Narmai of Piggieluv

Welcome back to another edition of Meet  The Blogger! Today's blogger is Narmai of

Piggieluv.
I first discover Narmai on Facebook & I was just blown away by her talent!  Seriously she's awesome & amazing.

What made you start a blog?

Initially I just wanted a space to dump my pics, like a diary. I got ambitious when I saw other people making beautiful nail art and I wanted to be that good too! That kicked it into high gear.

How long have you been blogging?

Since May 2012

What would you say makes your blog unique?

I have a crazy mind... it's ridiculous sometimes what I come up with, things you can't even wear on your nails in real life, but I make it anyways.

What's your favorite part of having a blog?

My dad loves bragging about my blog and he will show anyone my pics, even sales clerks or people he meets on the street. He might be my biggest fan :-p

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

Definitely!

What would you say is the downside of blogging?

Constantly feeling like I'm not doing well enough, that people might not like me or what I make. I know it doesn't matter and I should do it for me, and I do, but there's always that annoying little voice in the back of my head...

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?

Probably a bunch of them. Sometimes I have REALLY uninspired nail art that I'd rather not post but I do it anyways.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect

TV shows, I canNOT paint without something to watch! It keeps my head busy while my hands work. TV shows are easier than movies because I get to recognize the voices so I don't need to watch all the time, just listen.

Do you think your blog has changed of the years?

I know for sure it has.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?

Not married or in a relationship but I LOVE my pet rats! They cheer me up every day and oh yeah they're super adorable too :-p

Any advice for new bloggers?

Advice, advice... It sounds corny but stay your own course. It's easy to get swept up in having to be 'big' or important, or getting lots of press samples. Try to stay true to what you want your blog to be because that's the only thing that will make you truly happy & successful!

Thanks so much for being part of Meet The Blogger Narmai! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Kiersten of Ramblings Of A Subscription Addict

It's Tuesday so that means it's time for Meet The Blogger!
Today's Blogger is Kiersten of
I LOVE her blog! She's one of my absolute faves & I'm thrilled to have her here today.
Also for her selfie she's a mermaid, how awesome is that!

What make you start a blog?

I wanted to share what I found through subscriptions and nail polish brands with my friends and family. I initially only shared blog posts on my personal news feed, which I rarely do now! I liked being able to show people what was out there outside of what was available in my smaller hometown.

How long have you been blogging?

Just over two years!

What would you say makes your blog unique?

I review subscriptions and makeup as well as nail polishes. I do reviews on men’s boxes (which my husband loves), pet boxes (which my puppy loves), and still do both indie and mainstream brands of makeup and nail polish!

What's your favorite part of having a blog?

Can I say having an excuse to buy a ton of makeup and nail polish, because that’s it. :D

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

Yes! For non-nail things -  Don’t Despair, Repair by Briogeo. It’s this amazing deep conditioner that I first got through either Birchbox or Ipsy and then received through other subscriptions, but now I buy a full-size as well. For nail things - Heather’s Hues Cutie-cle Oil. It’s a new product that I’ve tried and I’ve fallen so in love with it.

What would you say is the downside of blogging?

Comparing myself to others. It’s not something that I try to do often, but I do occasionally do it and don’t really like how it makes me feel. I know that everyone has their own styles and their own situations, but sometimes I do compare my blog to others’.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?

Sadly, this just popped up in my ‘On This Day.’ It was my first review of Fairytale Finish’s subscription where I had really bad nail shape, really poor angles, and I really needed some help with cleaning/top coat/everything.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea eat

I watch Twitch or YouTube. I’m a geek at heart and I love Minecraft and Sims, so I usually am watching one of those games being played or live-streamed. Recently, I’ve been watching a streamer named Sevadus because he streams for so long, it takes up the majority of my ‘work time.'

Do you think your blog has changed of the years?

Definitely, I have grown so much stronger as a writer, a photographer (I started out taking pictures on our coffee table!), and as a nail swatcher/blogger.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?

Yes! Husband and I have been married for 1 1/2 years and I have my rescue lab mix (we don’t know what with) named Trumpet who is 1 1/2 years old. We rescued him from a shelter that was having an adoption drive at PetSmart a year ago this past February and he’s been our baby ever since.

This question is optional :

What was it like when you found out you were getting your first press samples?

I giggled and did a happy dance, then freaked out slightly (no shame). It’s one thing when you have an item that you have purchased that you need to photograph/swatch/review, but it makes you feel like you need to be even more serious and make sure everything is perfect.

Any advice for new bloggers?

Don’t stop trying! My only regret is that for about four months after getting married and moving to a new city, I didn’t really blog because I just didn’t have the time or room to have my things set up. I really fell behind during those few months and now don’t ever want to stop!

Meet The Blogger: Meet Tiffany of Polish And Paws

Welcome to another edition of Meet The Blogger! Today's blogger is Tiffany of  Polish & Paws

Can I just saw I want to be like her when I grow up? I mean look at that background in her selfie!  Wanna adopt me Tiffany?

What made you start a blog? A friend, blogger MonisMani.com, encouraged me to start blogging. I had aquired a large collection of polish in a short period of time and loved the idea of sharing it with people.

How long have you been blogging? Just over 2 years, I started blogging in May 2014.

What would you say makes your blog unique? I blog a wide variety of brands. One thing that has been important to me is to blog low cost brands as well as higher end brands and indies. Its easy to find lots of swatches for higher end well known brands; but with new brands and budget brands its much more difficult to find a good selection of swatches.

What's your favorite part of having a blog? I love being able to improve over time; adjusting and changing my swatch photos to appeal to readers and makers. And I'm not going to lie - I absolutely love it when I post in a polish group and a reader puts together my name and my blog name and they have a "fangirl moment." Those are the moments when I really feel like I've been successful.

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

Last year I reviewed a few polishes from Bohemian Polish. She also sent her new cuticle oil in Butterbeer scent. I knew within minutes I was hooked. To this day its my favorite cuticle oil and I always keep a bottle or two on hand.

What would you say is the downside of blogging?

The downside for me is the emotional aspect of it. I have to continually remind myself that its not personal when I get dropped by a brand or passed over for someone else. I pour so much of who I am into my blog that it can be challenging to separate the two.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?

Aside from some of my very first posts, which are nothing short of embarassing; I was recently reviewing what I thought were going to be water decals and they ended up being full nail 3D stickers.

They didn't fit my nails right and would not dissolve in acetone, so the end mani was a mess but it was the best I could do with them.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect

I like to listen to 80's hits, I always have a Sobe Lifewater and sometimes a snack. And one of my dogs is usually snuggled up behind me in my chair, which naturally is the best part.

Do you think your blog has changed of the years? Yes, it's definitely changed a lot over the years. I worked as a web designer for over 10 years so adding to, improving upon, and upgrading my blog itself comes naturally to me. I've also upgraded from an iphone to a DSLR which made a huge difference for my photos. And most recently I have upgraded my lighting. Next stop - videos!

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets? I have been married to my husband Billy for 15 years. We have 5 furry children (dogs) who mean the sun and the moon to us.

What was it like when you found out you were getting your first press samples? It felt very surreal. I didn't even think about press samples when I started my blog, but at some point it feels like a rite of passage. Like a form of validation.

Any advice for new bloggers?

I would say make sure you really want to put the time and energy into it, as in all likelihood it will take more time and energy than expected. Never let press samples be the reason for your blog. Blog from the heart, and love what you're doing.

Thanks for being part of Meet The Blogger Tiffany! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Megan Of Mindfully Polished

It's Meet The Blogger Time!
Today's Blogger is Megan of  Mindfully Polished
What's so cool about Megan is she started out as an Instagram Blogger before she started her blog.

What made you start a blog?
I began by posting all of my manis and swatches on Instagram, but decided that I needed an outlet to be able to provide more descriptions and to chat a bit more. I also like to do multiple shots of each polish that I post, and figured that a blog would be the best place to do so!

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging since January 2016.

What would you say makes your blog unique?
I try to provide as much description about the polishes that I blog about as I can, while also staying within reason. I also like to link almost EVERYTHING that I use, as I know readers like to know where to find specific polishes and materials.

What's your favorite part of having a blog?
I love being able to express my love for polish, and sharing that love with others who have the same passion. There aren’t too many people in my every day, non-internet life who have a passion for polish; so, when I am able to share with those who do, it makes me happy!

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?
I’ve bought a product to review, and I do now use it all of the time! (Baroness X’s Matte Cuticle Balm :D)

What would you say is the downside of blogging?
Trying to find a specific schedule to stick to, in regards to typing up and sharing posts. Sometimes I have the time to do a post every day, and others, I post every 2-3 days. I know that the consistency is something that readers/followers like, but I get caught up in life sometimes and have trouble staying on one specific schedule.

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written?
Ugh, the second post that I ever wrote. I literally had one picture and one paragraph, and it seems SO SHORT! I like to have more details and photos in my posts now, so that one makes me cringe.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect
I like to have some type of background noise- either a television show or music!

Do you think your blog has changed of the years?
I definitely think that my blog has changed since I began! I’ve asked for a lot of advice from other bloggers, and from makers, as to how to improve upon what I do. As a result, my lighting has improved, and my pictures have become clearer and more color-accurate.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?
I’m not married, and don’t have any human babies. I do have a fur baby, though! He is a Shetland Sheepdog named Joey, and he is the furry love of my life!

What was it like when you found out you were getting your first press samples?
I received my first press samples when I was an Instagram-only swatcher, and it was honestly one of the most joyous moments of my polishing life. I felt so honored that the maker wanted to give me the chance to swatch and review some of her polishes. I was also pretty nervous and afraid that I would not be able to produce swatches and photos that were up to par, in comparison to other swatchers that I have seen. To this day, when I do receive offers to swatch/review, I still feel both honored and anxious.

Any advice for new bloggers?
KEEP WORKING ON IT!! You may have some hesitation at first, but this community is so helpful and supportive. If you feel down, just try to remember why you fell in love with polish in the first place, and that will get you through any funk that may occur!

Thanks so much for being part of Meet The Blogger Megan! You can find her at her blog & the following social media pages.

It's time for Meet The Blogger!!!!!!!
Today's Blogger is Millie fromThe Nail Smith

What made you start a blog?

I started my blog because as I grew to love doing nail art, my friends encouraged me to share my creations with the world. First I was just on Tumblr, but now I have a Blogspot account, an Instagram, and a Facebook page as well!

How long have you been blogging?

I started doing nail art as a hobby when I was a sophomore in college (2011) and started my first blog on Tumblr in mid-2012.
What makes your blog unique?

I like to think I have a fairly classy but quirky style. I do everything from stamping nail art to freehand, from super sparkly and bright to vampy and moody. So chances are if one of my posts isn't to your liking, the next one might be! I've got a little something for everyone!

What's your favorite part to having a blog?

My favorite part of having a blog is being able to express my creativity to a larger audience. Sure, I might not have many followers, but every little comment or like lets me know that that person took a moment out of their day to appreciate what I've done. And I think that is pretty special.

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

Yes! I had never used water decals before I was sent some by Born Pretty Store to review last year. Now I have a huge collection of them and they're so easy to use that I think everyone should have some in their nail art supplies!
What would you say is the downside of blogging?

I guess the biggest downside or difficulty with blogging for me is finding the time. There are some lucky people who blog as a full-time job, but the rest of us usually have to squeeze it into our free-time. For me, the entire process of taking pictures, editing them (for cropping and color accuracy, at the most), and writing the post itself takes at least 3 hours minimum, and that doesn't include doing the nail art itself! But I still love doing it and try to make time to post at least once a week.

Do you have a least favorite post?

I would have to say that these opal nails I tried to do (http://the-nail-smith.blogspot.com/2015/06/opal-fail-nails.html) are by far my least favorite ones that I shared. Even after redoing them like 3 times, they still never turned out like I wanted and I ended up taking them off immediately after taking pictures of them!

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect.

One thing I have to have while I'm writing posts or editing pictures is some good music (thanks, Spotify!). I get too distracted by visual things like Netflix or YouTube so I just stick to some relaxing instrumental music while I'm writing.

Do you think your blog has changed over the years?

I think my blog has definitely grown since I started. I feel more comfortable posting only what I want to post and not just whatever is popular. And I think the quality of my photography and my writing have both greatly improved, even in the last year alone.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?

I'm not married but I have a wonderful boyfriend who lives a few hours away from me. I currently have two pets. One is a red-ear slider turtle named Schnappy, whom I've had since junior high. And his tankmate, Lunch, a feeder fish that started out about 1.5" long and is now a monstrous 4.5" long! It's a strange relationship, but I guess it works for them!

Any advice for new bloggers?

My advice for new bloggers is this: Don't worry about what other people think. Post about what makes YOU happy. Otherwise it becomes a chore to blog and that's just no fun at all!

Meet The Blogger: Meet Jacquie of Claws Up!

It's Tuesday so that means it's time for Meet The Blogger!
I'm so thrilled with the response & encouragement since I started this series. I'm hoping to continue it for a long time:)
Today's blogger is Jacquie of Claws Up

What made you start a blog? -
I have always been really big on self expression. I love to wear fun clothes and I used to dye my hair all the colors of the rainbow. When I graduated college I started working at the Bronx Zoo and a doggy daycare, and I had to go back to normal hair, and wear a uniform everyday. I felt like I was going stir-crazy not being able to express myself, so I got into nail art. It was the one thing I could wear at my jobs that was fun. After doing nail art for a few months, I wanted a way to save and document all my creations, so I decided to start a blog.

How long have you been blogging? -
I started my blog in November of 2011, so it has been a little over four years.

What would you say makes your blog unique? -
Nothing is off limits. I may be a nail, beauty, and style blog, but I'm not afraid to get personal too.

What's your favorite part of having a blog? -
I love having a creative outlet, and all of the friendships I have made.

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time? -
I reviewed shea body butters from Me Thyme recently and I am almost running out! I use them every day! http://clawsup.blogspot.com/2015/12/me-thyme-review.html

What would you say is the downside of blogging? -
Sometimes I feel like it can control my life. I spend a lot of time on it and it takes up almost all of my free time. It can be hard to make time for friends, and if life gets in the way and I fall behind on blogging, I get really stressed out. It's a second full-time job!

Do you have a least favorite post that you've written? -
I don't think I have a specific least favorite post, but when I look back on some of my first posts I cringe.

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? -
A blanket to cuddle up with.

Do you think your blog has changed over the years? -
Definitely! I started as a nail blogger, but I re-branded my blog to be a style, beauty, nail, and lifestyle blog. Plus, I think my photos and writing have improved a lot.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets? -
I have been in a relationship for almost seven years, and we have been engaged for a year (he proposed last Valentine's day). We will be getting married in May of 2017. No kids, but we have a fur child, my kitty Muffin. I got her when she was dumped on the doorstep of my vet with a broken leg when she was a few weeks old. She turns 17 in March. I am obsessed with her, she is my true love.

Any advice for new bloggers?
Don't give up! Sometimes I get down on myself because my blog is not the best. just remember you are blogging because it's what you love, and not for anyone else!
